Why pay the money?
What’s the difference between washing your car and getting your car detailed by a professional? Lets look at the process.
Pre-Wash / Wash- The pre-foam that starts out all exterior packages begins to lift the stuck-on debris and road grime. The second round of foam is to provide lubrication and cleaning power before we begin to wash the car, this prevents scratches and swirls in your paint. Depending on the package and vehicle condition the wash could be done with a PH neutral soap to a slightly acidotic or alkaline level soap for its different cleaning abilities.
Clay Bar / Iron X decontamination- This takes cleaning the paint a step further, the Iron X based chemical removes iron and metallic fragments from your wheels and paint work, these fragments come from the brake pads and road debris. Next is the clay bar cleaning of your car, this is done by passing a towel impregnated with a clay-based material over the paint work and glass of your vehicle. This pulls out an embedded debris still left in the paint work and glass leaving an ultra-smooth to the touch feeling on your paint work and glass.
Single Stage Paint Correction and Polish- This is accomplished with a Dual Action polisher in conjunction with a foam pad and polishing compound. The pad will consist of a softer density and the polish will contain fillers and gloss enhancing materials. This is done to remove and fill scratches, swirl marks, and holograms in the paint that are common in those vehicles that have been through any type of drive through car wash. The filler helps to hide deep scratches and provides an ultra-smooth and reflective surface which boosts the gloss of the paint work. This step also preps the surface for a wax or ceramic based coating.
2 Stage Paint Correction and Polish- This takes a single stage a step further by using a higher density foam pad and more aggressive compound to permanently remove scratches, swirls and imperfections in the vehicle’s paintwork. It is then followed up by the single stage polish above to build in the deep reflections and gloss as a final preparation for a wax or ceramic coating.
Waxes and sealants- A great option for the final piece to protect the vehicle from becoming contaminated again from road debris. Waxes and sealants have been over shadowed in recent years as the ceramic-based coatings have become more accessible. However, quality wax can provide warmth and glow to the paint work that ceramic cannot match, think of a show car shine, that dripping wet paint look that is what wax can deliver. Even a spray wax or topper that we use on every level of exterior detail will provide a short-term enhancement to the paint work that will make your car stand out and have the water beading off while keeping your vehicle clean longer. This is my personal choice on my Corvette as the looks takes precedence of the length and level of protection for the paint work.
Ceramic Coating- For a daily driven car ceramic coating is the king for protection of paintwork. I use a premium 8 year rated ceramic coating for my ceramic package and with two maintenance washes a year with me I will stand by the coating for 5 years. Ceramic will provide enhanced levels of gloss and smoothness to the paint along with unmatched hydrophobic and chemical barrier for your vehicle. Ceramic makes washing your car easier as the dirt and road debris does not stick the ceramic like it does to unprotected paint. Don’t be fooled by dealership and other commercial ceramic coatings, it’s often a spray on coating that lasts less then 12 months.
